to see if i still feel
i focused on the pain
of my emo filled with steel

the music tears a hole
that old familiar sting

AND the promise ring

now i am the most emo
of the scenesters at the show
my bag covered in buttons
from all the bands that i know

when i hear the music
my body starts to spasm
my eyes well up - my emo swells
and i have emogasms

my parents call me moody
my shrink calls me depressed
they don't know the emo heart
that beats within my chest

so if you see me out there
in clubs or on the street
wave and say "cheer up emo kid!"
because that's the standard greet
